The carat  is a measurement of the diamond’s weight.  One carat is divided into 100 points, so a diamond with 50 points weighs 0.50 carats.   A bigger diamond doesn’t necessarily means it’s better.  Two diamonds of the same weight can be different in value depending on their cut, color, and clarity.
