A diamond is more rare and valuable when there are no inclusions and surface blemishes.  This is because inclusions can interfere with the passage of light; therefore, decreasing the brilliance of a diamond.

Diamonds have the capability to produce the maximum amount of brilliance, which makes it different from other gem stones.
