Color grading scales from totally colorless to light yellow. The differences between one grade and another are very subtle, as can be seen by the number of grades within any one category.

A totally colorless diamond will allow white light to pass through it and be dispersed into rainbows of colors.

Fancy Color Diamond Grading

While searching for your diamond, you may come across "fancy color" diamonds. Fancy color diamonds can be pink, blue, green, yellow, brown or even black. The most valuable diamonds are colorless, yet diamonds with rich colors including yellow, red, green, and black are extremely rare and valuable.

Fancy yellow diamonds are the most prevalent fancy color diamonds.
